Susan Sokol, President of Vera Wang, and Claire Behar, Senior Partner and Director - New Business Development, Fleishman-Hillard, and I would like to invite you to our upcoming “For Your Consideration" Breakfast on Wednesday, December 13th. The event is devoted to an organization we both care deeply about, Sanctuary for Families.

A New York-based charity, Sanctuary for Families provides invaluable services to thousands of women and children each year who are victims of domestic violence.

I know Sanctuary for Families through my connection with Fleishman-Hillard and Susan, as a member of Sanctuary's President's Council, has been involved in Sanctuary for a number of years. Each year, nearly one million women are victimized by domestic violence. It starts in the home and ripples to schools and businesses and throughout our communities. In New York City last year, over 222,000 incidents of domestic violence were reported by the New York City Police Department.

Sanctuary is combating this problem by providing thousands of New York's most desperate women and children with the means to change their lives. Sanctuary offers shelter, counseling, a nationally acclaimed legal services program, housing and benefits assistance, and a specialized program for children who have witnessed or experienced violence in the home.

Additionally, Sanctuary's donor base is comprised of audiences that Vera Wang and members of The Luxury Marketing Council have access to. Having worked at Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, and now Vera Wang, Susan, now with The Council's involvement, is continuing to look for new ways to reach high net worth men and women. For example, Sanctuary partners with dozens of the country's most prominent law firms whose lawyers provide Sanctuary's clients with pro bono legal assistance. Partners and associates from these law firms attend Sanctuary's annual benefit along with hundreds of representatives from New York City's most prestigious real estate companies, financial institutions and corporations. Providing financial and in-kind contributions such as auction items gives organizations that partner with Sanctuary substantial visibility.
