LUXURY AND THE HOME
Date: Wednesday, April 5, 2006
Generously hosted by Debevoise & Plimpton - David Bernstein, Partner and Yolanda Cartusciello, Director of Marketing.
With the maturing of the baby boomers and the buying power of the young wealthy it's no secret that a significant percentage of this highly affluent market's spending is going into the home, home furnishings and design - a large percentage being luxury products and services. Given this explosion of spending on the home category, many existing brands that cater exclusively to the home are offering more luxury products/services and many other luxury brands are moving into the home market. There are tremendous opportunities for savvy luxury marketers focusing on this niche to grow revenues and create new revenue streams by being more innovative in 'turbo-charging' their marketing efforts and working closely with like-minded brands focusing on the home. There have never been more people with more means to acquire beauty for beauty's sake. They want the best, so the market for all products and services for home has grown, especially in the luxury niche.
A Trio of Triggers Motivate Higher Luxury Spending on Home
• Rising Home Values; there are one million, million dollar houses
• Real estate yields a better return than almost any other investment
• Spending on Interior Design is rising at higher standards of quality and elegance.
Steve Nobel, Co-founder (with Greg Furman) of The Luxury Home Alliance and founder and principal of Nobelinks, will provide an in-depth overview of this increasingly important niche and the opportunities it affords luxury brands to reach their best customers 'at home.' He will explore the underlying motives that inspire the affluent to spend on and invest in their residences. He'll talk about where those motives begin and what circumstances influence the decision-making process along the way. The marketing principles that work in home are also highly relevant to other luxury professional services like real estate, financial planning or any brands that market professional services to the affluent.
'The Luxury Home Alliance in partnership with the Luxury Marketing Council is like a salon, thought-leaders from throughout the country acting as a catalyst for realizing the full potential of the abundant market for luxury at home.
