MICHAEL R. HAYNES has served as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Collectors Universe since January 1, 2003. He served as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Director of Tangible Asset Galleries, Inc., a distributor of fine art, from 2000 to 2002. He has been President, Chief Operating Officer, and/or Chief Financial Officer of eight collectibles, precious metals, specialty retail, distribution, e-commerce, and manufacturing businesses. Overall, Mr. Haynes has more than 25 years of experience in managing the growth and development of growth companies, which includes over 19 years experience in managing both public and private companies engaged in the business of selling collectibles at auction, retail and wholesale. He was also one of the co-founding board members of the Industry Council for Tangible Assets --a Washington, D.C. trade association for dealers and auctioneers of tangible and collectible assets-- where he served for nine years.

Mr. Haynes holds a Master's degree in Business and a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, both from Southern Methodist University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner.

In 2006 under Michael's leadership net revenues increased 10 percent to a new record of $36.9 million; units were up to a new record level of 3.2 million units valued at nearly $1.8 billion. Acquisitions completed early in 2006 contributed to the increase of non-authentication and grading related services revenues to a new record. Famous Honus Wagner Card Accompanies Collectors Universe CEO to NASDAQ Opening
New York, NY - The finest known T-206 Honus Wagner baseball card was a "surprise guest" at the opening bell-ringing ceremony of the NASDAQ Stock Market in New York City, Friday, July 22, 2005.

Michael R. Haynes, Chief Executive Officer of Collectors Universe, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLCT), brought the card and other valuable collectibles certified by Collectors Universe to Times Square when he was invited to open the day's trading.

NASDAQ officials and several dozen guests, including author and former American Numismatic Association Vice President Scott A. Travers, were given a private showing by Haynes of several of the finest-known numismatic, philatelic and sports collectibles certified by Collectors Universe. The items included:
• The Eliasberg/Legend 1913 Liberty Head nickel purchased in June by Legend Numismatics for $4.15 million, the second highest price ever paid for any rare coin
• The finest-known $1,000 denomination 1890 U.S. Treasury note valued at more than $1 million and nicknamed the "Grand Watermelon" because the three large green zeros in the printed denomination resemble watermelons
• The renowned 1909-era Honus Wagner baseball card formerly owned by hockey star, Wayne Gretzky, and later purchased for $1.3 million at an auction in 2000
• A 1918 "Inverted Jenny" 24-cent denomination airmail postage stamp misprinted with an upside down bi-plane in the design that recently sold for $577,500
While in New York, Haynes planned to meet with investors and news media representatives to discuss the collectibles markets, business highlights, and what the American consumer and investor community should look for before purchasing high-value collectibles.

Collectors Universe Names New CEO and Director, Independent Board Member

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Collectors Universe, Inc. (Nasdaq NMS: CLCTD), the leading provider of value-added grading and authentication services and products to dealers and collectors of high-end collectibles, today announced the appointment of Michael Haynes to the position of Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Roger W. Johnson. The Company also reported the appointment of A.J. "Bert" Moyer to the Board of Directors, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of James O'Neal in December 2002.

As a result, he is particularly well qualified to lead Collectors during the growth phase of its auction and retail collectibles sales businesses.

Mr. Haynes was one of the co-founding board members of the Industry Council for Tangible Assets, a Washington, D.C. trade association for dealers and auctioneers of tangible and collectible assets, where he served for nine years.
